Koinonia Farm, an ongoing experiment in interracial Christian communal living and the birthplace of Habitat for Humanity, is located outside Americus, Georgia. The 550 acres of woods, pecan orchards, and vineyards include a serene campus with library and museum holding collections on religion and social issues, the history of Koinonia and civil rights events. Koinonia Partners, Inc is committed to nonviolence and peaceful solutions to society's problems, reconciliation among all people, Christian discipleship, and the empowerment of the poor, the neglected and the oppressed. Community members and volunteers participate in communal life, outreach ministries, and business enterprises. Through a model of holistic community development, it looks for ways that diverse groups can come together and form partnerships that minister to the needs of the whole person... in all his/her poverty of body, mind and spirit. |
