* About 500 acres including Motherhouse, native prairie, small organic garden for community use, livestock, no-till grain production, 300 acres devoted to forage and grain production leased to a local farmer, woodland, ponds with aquaculture, and an Earth Kinship Center. Commercial fertilizer use is minimized through the use of manure and human biosolids. Pesticide use is minimized through regular crop rotations. A ten year plan for Care of the Land was developed in 1993. At its General Assembly in Rome in 1995 a resolution was passed for a commitment to global ecology by the entire congregation around the world. [1996]
