* More than one-half of this 500 acre-abbey bordering the Missouri River is developed land. The rest includes 100 acres of cropland leased to neighboring farmers, 90 acres pastureland, 50 acres woodland, and 5 acres gardens and orchards tended by members of the Benedictine community. Less desirable trees on the developed land are being replaced by oak seedlings raised in the abbey nursery and purchased from the state. [1995] |
