Following a Forest Stewardship Plan developed for its 17.3 acres, the Sisters established a riparian forest buffer through the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP) planting 4200 deciduous and coniferous trees and shrubs and establishing grass buffer. The practices reduce erosion and nutrient runoff, enhance wildlife habitat, cool water temperatures thereby improving stream health, reduce flooding, and produce future forest products. The Sisters have established a Care of the Earth Committee to educate and inform the community of the importance of ecology and environmental issues. [2000]
